VMI Uniform Glimpsed in Army Commercials

LEXINGTON, Va., May 27, 2011 – The U.S. Army’s newest advertising campaign, “Symbol of Strength,” features glimpses of VMI cadets in uniform.
Former regimental 1st Capt. David E. Gerardo ’11, Emilio Calvin ’11, and Samantha Price ’12 traveled during spring semester to Fort Bragg, N.C., to take part in the project, to be launched this Memorial Day weekend.
The campaign, which consists of three new national broadcast television spots, will also include cinema, social media, and an interactive Web presence.
Each television spot features a different aspect of serving as a soldier – education, leadership, and opportunities – and encourages young adults to go online to discover more about the strength gained by wearing the uniform. Participants will be able to view soldier stories and post questions to soldiers in the field.
The campaign was produced under the direction of U.S. Army Accessions Command.
