with an accredited university is eligible to apply. VMI students need only
submit an application. Applicants from other universities should include a
faculty letter of recommendation, an official transcript, and a short essay
outlining the applicant's personal and academic goals for the program, along
with the application. Applications must be received no later than 1 March
Room and Board
Full room and board is provided by General
Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy in Vilnius.
Board consists of three meals
daily during the week. Most meals on the
weekends will be at the students’ expense. Accommodations in Klaipeda in three
or four star hotel in twin or triple rooms.
Academic and Cultural Program
will be enrolled in 6 credit hours of mathematics courses at the 300+ level,
including a 3 credit Civilization & Cultures course. The first excursion takes
you on a City Tour of historic Vilnius, which includes the KGB Museum, the
Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Cathedral Square, Vilnius University, and
Europe Park, located near the geographical center of Europe. Subsequent weekends include trips to the
resort town of Palanga and its Amber museum, the Curonian Spit with its
beautiful towns of Juedkrante and Nida, Aujstaitija National Park, the
Rumsiskes Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, and the town of Kaunas.
General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania has been developing
officer training traditions since the 18th century. Immediately after the declaration of
Lithuanian Independence on 11 March 1990, following the breakup of the former
Soviet Union, Lithuania set forth to rebuild the Armed Forces of Lithuania, to
include the Academy.
