Writing Contest Awards Announced

LEXINGTON, Va., June 11, 2012 – Twelve cadets were selected by faculty judges for awards in the Institute Writing Program’s Academic Writing Contest. The awards were given in five categories and recognize outstanding written work produced throughout the 2011-2012 academic year.

First-year Composition

First – Tyler Hacker ’15, “Defying Gender Stereotypes for Women,” mentor Maj. Mary Beth Pennington.

First – Stephen Caskey ’15, “Kicking the Hornet’s Nest: Operation Ajax and Its Effects on Middle Eastern Relations,” Maj. Mary Beth Pennington.

Second – Rob Franzino’15, “Energizing Cameron Hall,” Lt. Col. Pennie Ticen.

Writing Across the Curriculum
