Parking Information 

Parking will be on the Parade Ground for many events during Commencement Week weather permitting. Signage will indicate when it is open. In the area of Cameron Hall, on-street parking is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis.  Other parking spaces may be found in the parking lots on Post behind academic buildings. 

New Market Ceremony and Parade
Parking will not be permitted on Letcher Avenue on either sides of the road along the Parade Ground. 
Commencement

Parking will be allowed on the Parade Ground, weather permitting, for all activities.

Please pay attention to the traffic pattern for the departure of cadets after Commencement.  The area in front of Barracks will be congested with all of the cadets trying to depart at the same time.  Vehicles should remain parked on the Parade Ground, when possible, and the cadet’s belongings carried to the vehicle.  The VMI Police need your assistance and patience to ensure that the cadet departure is accomplished in the quickest and safest manner possible.    

Inclement Weather Parking

If heavy rain makes parking on the Parade Ground impractical, the following parking options are available: Satellite parking will be available in the Lowe's lower parking lot (next to WalMart), a shuttle service will be provided from the parking lot to Cameron Hall.  Additional parking may be found throughout post in permanent parking areas. 

 

On Post - At VMI

Parking is available on a first come, first served basis. Once on Post parking is filled, you are asked to proceed to the off Post parking locations described below and use the shuttle services provided.

 

Parking in Walking Distance
Other City Parking - On weekends, there are no time limits for parking on the street or in city parking lots.  Contact the Lexington Visitor Center for more information.  
Satellite Shuttle Parking

Shuttle service will run during posted periods when satellite parking is used.  Signage will be placed at the following locations when they are being used:

The satellite parking is located at Lowes on Rt. 11 in Lexington. Next to the Wal Mart.

Parking will be available at Lowes from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 15 and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 16. Shuttle service will be provide between continuously this location and post during these periods.
