Parking Lot Construction Under Way

LEXINGTON, Va., Nov. 16, 2011 – Work has begun to construct a parking lot in the South Institute Hill area on the VMI post. The lot will be situated behind Maury-Brooke and Mallory halls, just south and across Main Street from Cameron Hall.

Four houses are being taken down to make room for the project, which will provide 98 new parking spaces with access from both Letcher Avenue and Main Street.

During construction, the entrance to post off Letcher Road, the Maiden Lane exit, and Engineering Drive entrance and exit will remain open. However, the section of road connecting the parking lot behind Mallory Hall with Maiden Lane will be closed. The road between the Freeland House and Mallory Hall will remain one-way.

Completion of the $2,816,000 million project is expected in fall 2012.
