Women's Soccer Highlights
VMI women's soccer has soared to new heights over the last several years, earning laurels not seen in previous seasons. In 2007, head coach Bryan Williams took his team to the conference tournament for the first time, and the following year, the Keydets knocked off Winthrop for the first tournament win in program history.
That 2008 season also saw the program's first win over an in-state Division I opponent, a Sept. 24 win over Liberty, the first of three straight regular season wins over the Lady Flames. In 2009, the Keydets advanced to the semifinals of the Big South Championships for the second straight year, beating one of their arch-rivals, Coastal Carolina, in the team's first-ever penalty kick shootout.
Those teams were led by Audrey Falconi, the 2009 Three-Legged Stool winner and multiple-time All-Conference honoree. After a disappointing 2010, Coach Williams has brought in the largest freshman class in program history and, with a deep senior class, the team expects to return to the successes of past years.
