  RecycleMania  

February 3 – March 31, 2013
VMI participated in the annual RecycleMania tournament, a friendly intercollegiate competition to reduce waste and increase diversion of resources.

2013 Results:
•    13.5% overall recycling rate
•    27th in Cardboard (out of 411 National schools)
•    2nd in electronics - 10,734 lbs collected

American Recycles Day  

November, 2012
Take the pledge to learn something new about recycling, or to recycle one new material this year.  

 Game Day Challenge  

November 17, 2012

VMI was “greening the gridiron” during the home game on November 17. The Game Day Challenge is a national competition among colleges and universities to divert as much as possible from landfill waste. 

2011 Results:
•    Per Capita Recycling: 0.127 lbs recycled per person (35th out of 66 schools)
•    Per Capita Waste: 0.582 lbs of total waste per person (40nd out of 61 schools)
•    Diversion Rate: 31.3% of waste was recycled (39th out of 63 schools)
